Today we visited the Qing Xiu Shan Park in Nanning to see the sites including the 1000 year old Dragon and Elephant Pagoda below, well it is almost 1000 years old. It was torn down during WWII when the local gov't thought the Japanese might use it as a landmark to perform their bombing runs. It was rebuilt in 1985 but it is not a true relpica of the original. Modern construction techniques have been used.

The budha to below is in a temple used by three religions; Budhism, Daoism and Confusionism.

V was trying to buy a traditonal Zhuong marriage ball for C as we think, based on her papers, that she is at least 1/2 Zhuong minority. China has 50+ minority groups that make up 7% of the population. The majority are Han Chinese like V. The marriage ball is given by a girl to a boy at a special matching festival held once a year. The boy takes it home and 3 months later goes to the girl's home to see if her parents will allow the marriage. Our driver had 5 balls in his bus. Looks like he is very popular. V wants to use it as a Christmas Tree ornament.
